Having a child who struggles with eating a variety of foods can be very worrying, frustrating and make mealtimes a battleground!

Children’s behaviour is a way for them to communicate. Challenging behaviours around food is their way of communicating that eating is difficult.

Does your child

  • Have a restricted range of foods they can tolerate
  • Refuse entire categories of food texture/ nutrition groups
  • Have to eat a different meal form the rest of the family
  • Find mealtimes distressing?

Lisa brings her personal experience of parenting a child with a Chronic medical condition and feeding challenges, as well as her training in the SOS Approach to feeding*, alongside her experience working with children who present with a variety of feeding challenges to support parents and children to take the stress out of mealtimes and make a plan for increasing your child’s willingness to try new foods.

Lisa starts with understanding the history of your child’s feeding challenges, a mealtime observation and then discussing with you whether a parent coaching approach and/or feeding therapy or ‘food school’  will meet your individual needs.

Feeding therapy or ‘food school’ involves challenging your child in a fun, relaxed, playful approach to explore different foods within their levels of comfort.

*The SOS (Sequential-Oral-Sensory) Approach to Feeding Program was developed by Dr. Kay Toomey and is used worldwide to treat feeding issues in infants, children, and adolescents. For more information about SOS Approach to Feeding, visit the Toomey & Associates – SOS Approach to Feeding website.
